Now, for your ‘Current Events’ for the week!
In Afghanistan… Some Sunnis attacked some towns in Afghanistan where Shiite people were worshipping for their holy day, Ashura. 63 people died from suicide bombers in the towns of Kabul, Kandahar and Mazar-i-Sharif. Though Afghanistan has experienced a lot of this, all the bombing, Sunnis and Shiites haven’t fought so much there, as in other countries. So it was somewhat surprising. The Shiites and Sunnis are very much against each other; they’ve been killing each other for decades. What do I think of this? So. Retarded.
I can’t stand the whole suicide bombings against other people just because they aren’t of your religion! Why don’t you just kindly tell them what you believe, and try to get them to your side, not kill them! I am so glad I live in America… All those other countries seem so dangerous right now…
There’s a lot of political stuff going on, as always, but I don’t attempt to understand what’s going on. I’ll just get a headache.
That I could understand, the people in the government are struggling with a few things, like the economy, health care reform, and presidential nominations.
In Kolkata, India, a hospital fire took 94 lives.
The hospital was state-of-the-art, with all the latest equipment. But when a small fire in the basement started, people quickly found out that they weren’t prepared for something like that. Hospital staff were slow to call the fire department (most of the doctors fled, leaving patients behind), and the fire trucks were slow to come. When people outside tried to come in to help, they were pushed out by authorities, saying that it was only a small kitchen fire. Very much not so. It took 12 hours to put out the fire. The reason it took so long was because the smoke was so thick, they just couldn’t go in. The windows of the hospital wouldn’t open, so the patients that weren’t bedridden were trapped. They finally got in using ladders and breaking a window. Most of the people inside died from the smoke, which had been filling the rooms for 4 hours. What caused the fire is unknown. I find this very sad, one of those unfortunate things in life.
